Chemin de Fer ABC’s – Part Two

We carry on with our article on the essential details of twenty-one. In Part 1 we covered the approach of chemin de fer, hitting, standing and how to double down. In part 2 we’ll talk about splitting, surrendering and insurance.
Split: if a player is assigned 2 cards of the same amount (two eights for example) he may separate them to create two separate hands. If you decide to split your hand you will need to place a new wager equal to the original wager.
Surrender: Some betting houses will let individuals to surrender the hand they have been given along with half of the initial bet they placed before the dealer checks their hand. Insurance: When the dealers exposed card is an Ace gamblers have the option to take out insurance. You will place half of the initial bet before the dealer looks at his cards; if the croupier has twenty-one you’ll come away with a win on the insurance wager but still lose the initial amount. Regrettably if the croupier does not have black jack the gambler loses the insurance. It is a chance but one that’s well worth it, if used as part of a smart plan.
Once a competitor has stood or busted by exceeding twenty one the dealer will reveal his cards and will continue to deal himself cards until 1 of the following things has appeared: if they have reached 17, a croupier will not typically draw another card due to the likelihood of going bust, if he has drawn twenty-one or if they have gone bust.
